Life at Alokolum

Life generally in the formation house encompasses all aspects that make a devoted one understand and enjoy the environement of his call. This kind of life set apart from the public is not an easy one if it is to be embraced in the flesh rather than with a stronger building of one’s true self within the grace of God. Enjoyment comes as aresult of matching spiritual growth and flesh at the same time. For our seminary, Life in Alokolum is a nice one indeed only for us who have fully understood why we are here and why we continue to be who we are.

We enjoy firstly: spiritual life inform of Daily personal reflection, lauds and mediatation, masses, angelus, Spiritual Talk, Sepcial retreat and Recollections as well movement’s mission and prayers.

Secondly: We enjoy team building spirit that we encounter from different activities like games and sports, Clubs and Movements, Manual work and community work days, meal time, Seminary days and big events, Class hours, house gatherings, Leaders’ meetings, Public Seminars, and not forgetting prayer time among others. Don’t you think here we create sense of brotherhood among diocesans of different dioceses of this country and outside like South Sudan. We leave this place unforgotten about the sense of belogning to one another.

Thirdly: We enjoy learning from class and other co-cuuricullum activities like public seminars and or workshop mostly freely of charge for all the interested groups of students. We turn out to be fully equipped with extra knowledge and skills that await time of actions to take ground. These mostly help our students to handle pastoral tasks smoothly without much stress. Therefore in our Seminary, that is our center of enjoyment when we see our students enjoying extra learning for their future.

Lastly, entertainment: Like any other person, we enjoy to laugh and share feelings with our brothers inform of entertainments of various forms. When it comes to Seminary day, Adoption day, Uganda Martyrs’ day, independent day, clubs, movements and associations’ day, house gatherings, welcome of year ones, sport day; we end up being entertained with music dance and drama presentations, operates by the Scouts and Guides, and other talent presentations.
Therefore formation house is not primarily a place of prayer only as a layman could think of but life that is bulid through the efforts of every community members and enjoyed together.
