DAILY CALENDER AND DAILY SCHEDULE

GENERAL CALENDER

At Alokolum, the academic year lasts 32 to 34 weeks. Each academic year is divided int two semesters. The first Semester normally opens on a Friday following the 15^th of August and official opening of the academic year takes place on the following Sunday. The closing of the first semester is mid December (latest one week to Christmas).

The second Semester normally opens on a Friday after the 15^th of January and closes in the third week of May. In case of adjustments in the opening and closing dates of the semester, care is taken that each semester takes the required fifteen to seventeen weeks (13 to 15 of teaching and 2 of examinations). Public holidays are respected when they are duly scheduled. The Rector and staff reserve the right to rule on which ones should be put on schedule.

The Dean of Studies proposes to staff a general calender and timetable for lecturers for each semester and then the staff have to approve them, organizes and finally communicates them in due time to both staff and students
